Saturday May 8th - Creator’s Studio V
SLG Publishing is proud to present its fifth Creator’s Studio seminar as we present a day-long series of panels and seminars on comics and their creation. End the day with an artist-in-residence seminar that includes a live drawing demonstration by our gallery’s March feature artist Karl Christian Krumpholz as well as portfolio reviews by SLG editors.
Our featured panels will be
Writing for an Artists - Dan Vado & Karl Krumpholz discuss what to communicate to an artist. They will be joined by Karl Krumpholz who will chime in with what he needs from a writer versus what he does for himself script-wise.
Why We Fight - The difference between wanting and needing to tell a story and what you have to have before you try to create a comic book.
Jon "Bean" Hastings gives a short presentation on how to prepare different kinds of art for printing. From pencils to pen and ink to paintings.
Conjuring a page - Artists in semi-residence Karl Krumpholz sits down at his drawing table and demonstrates his drawing and storytelling techniques. This is an interactive demonstration, questions are encouraged. Karlwill show how he breaks down a page and take a page of script and show and explain his thought process for creating a finished piece.

In 2009 SLG Publishing is establishing the Center for Comic Book Study, a series of seminars and classes devoted to developing aspiring talent and enriching the reading experience of comics fans.
